Seeer AI vs TradingView: Which Is Better for Commodity Signal Testing?

TradingView excels at charting. Seeer AI answers whether what you are charting actually predicts price direction. Both are useful — but for different questions.

These two tools get compared a lot. They shouldn't be — they answer completely different questions. TradingView tells you what a chart looks like. Seeer AI tells you whether the pattern on that chart has ever actually predicted price. If you're using one to do the other's job, you're going to be frustrated.

What TradingView is actually for

TradingView is a charting platform. It's excellent at that job. Fifty million traders use it, the coverage is comprehensive, the community of published scripts is enormous, and if you want to draw lines on charts, set price alerts, or run a quick Pine Script backtest — TradingView is the fastest tool available.

The Strategy Tester will show you a win rate, profit factor, and drawdown history. For a lot of traders, that's enough. For traders who want to know whether to believe those numbers, it's not.

The gap

Take the gold death cross. TradingView can show you a backtest: 12 of 16 historical events resolved higher over 180 days. That's a 75% win rate. Looks strong.

But here's the question TradingView can't answer: with only 16 events, is a 75% win rate actually meaningful — or is it the kind of result that shows up randomly with a biased coin over 16 flips? Statistically, there's roughly a 21% chance of seeing 75% across 16 trials purely by chance. TradingView has no way to tell you that. It shows you the number. It doesn't tell you whether to trust it.

This is the core problem with win-rate-only backtesting: at small sample sizes, the numbers lie. Not because the tool is wrong, but because sample size context is missing. A 70% win rate over 8 events means almost nothing. A 60% win rate over 80 events might be highly significant. The percentage alone doesn't tell you.

What Seeer AI adds

Seeer AI ran the gold death cross backtest and returned a p-value of 0.03. That crosses the 0.05 significance threshold — the result is unlikely to be noise. More interesting: Seeer AI flagged it as a contrarian bullish signal. The “bearish” crossover has resolved higher 75% of the time at 180 days — not lower. That's counterintuitive, and you wouldn't get there from a win rate alone.

For contrast: the gold golden cross shows a 73.3% win rate at 180 days — the highest in our dataset. It's also not statistically significant (p=0.21). At N=15, that win rate is consistent with chance. The “bullish” signal is noise; the “bearish” one is real. TradingView would show you two similarly impressive win rates. Seeer AI shows you which one to believe.

Every Seeer AI result includes: p-value, multi-horizon outcomes (30, 60, 90, 180 days), sample size, mean return, and a plain-language interpretation. No Pine Script required — you describe the signal in English.

Coverage and scope

TradingView covers virtually every tradeable market. If your portfolio includes equities, forex, or crypto alongside commodities, TradingView is your daily home.

Seeer AI is commodity-specific — crude oil, gold, silver, copper, natural gas, agricultural futures. That narrower scope comes with deeper data: 25+ years of continuous futures data with proper roll adjustment, tested at multiple horizons. If commodities are your focus, the depth matters more than the breadth.

How they fit together

The most useful framing isn't “which one” — it's “in what order.” Use Seeer AI first to establish whether a signal has statistical edge. If it does, use TradingView to monitor for when that signal fires in real time and set alerts around it. Seeer AI is the research layer; TradingView is the monitoring layer.

TradingView tells you a gold death cross just fired. Seeer AI tells you that historically, that event has resolved higher 75% of the time at 180 days with a p-value of 0.03. Both pieces of information are useful. One without the other leaves you either watching signals that don't predict anything, or sitting on validated research with no alert system.
